The next CBSS ARES (City of Barrie and South-Simcoe Amateur Radio Emergency Service) meeting will be held at 7:00pm on 6 March 2012 at the new Barrie Fire Hall #1. Any Amateur Radio Operator interested in this increasingly important aspect of our hobby is welcome to attend the meeting. Training sessions on voice procedures and the use of various digital modes are also part of these meetings. Contact the club for more info.

 
RAC is calling for nominations for new Section Manager (SM) positions in Ontario. Significant change is coming to Ontario in terms of the way RAC affairs will be managed. A job description has been included on the BARC Executive Page.

Club Repeater VE3RAG On The Air

The Barrie Amateur Radio Club repeater VE3RAG is now on the air at its new home on the Ferndale water tower near the city land-fill site. It was put into service around noon on 9 September 2009. A 50W Motorola  MSR2000 has been tuned-up by Ron VA3NLS, and the duplexer filters have been tuned by Bob VE3BFM. The antenna is at approximately 220 feet above ground level (about 1100 feet ASL) with an ERP of approximately 20W. VE3RAG 147.000+ requires a 156.7Hz tone for access.

 

You should carry a copy of the new Ontario Regulation 366/09 of the Highway Traffic Act and a copy of your Amateur Radio License in your vehicle with you. Item 13 of 366/09 refers to the "time-limited exemption for amateur radio operators".
